Who are CTE Teachers?

CTE teachers bring real-world experience into the classroom, helping students discover their passions, build practical skills, and prepare for life after high school. To teach in a CTE Program of Study, educators need a CTE License or CTE Endorsement based on industry experience in one of the six Career Learning Areas recognized by the Oregon Department of Education. For more information visit the Becoming a CTE Teacher page.

Opportunities for Educators

Industry Matchmaking Program

This new program makes it easy to bring local professionals into your classroom. As a teacher, you’ll be able to request connections that fit your curriculum and schedule. We handle the matching and logistics so you can focus on bringing real-world experiences into your lessons and helping students explore career pathways.

Want to learn more about how it works? Check out our info page here. Contact heberle@lesd.k12.or.us for more information.

Summer Externships

Each summer, educators are paired with a local business partner in their career area to work on a mutually beneficial project for up to 60 hours. These externships give teachers hands-on industry experience they can bring back to the classroom to strengthen career-connected learning and build lasting community partnerships.

Applications open in January.
